Bench series: September

Having failed dismally to find anything for Jude’s colourful benches challenge last month, I knew I’d have better luck with September’s – metal benches. The High Viewpoint at Inverewe Gardens in Wester Ross has two fairly nondescript specimens – but the view makes up for their lack of attractiveness!

The photograph below wasn’t taken for the bench at all, but for the mural behind it. That’s the wall of the ticket office at Dirleton Castle – if you zoom in, you can read the notice at the right hand side:

The children of Dirleton Primary School’s 100 year wall painting of the village and castle.

And the bench is metal. Result! For more metal benches, visit Jude at Travel Words.

  1. Gosh, Anabel – you’re right, those amazing views could make up for any ‘unattractiveness’ in the immediate environment!
It looks like a lovely place for a sit down and think…

  2. As much as I have to agree with you that the benches are no beauties, the views definitely make up for them and I always love to see community street art and murals, I can spend ages studying maps. Nice to see you back in the challenge Anabel 🙂

  3. Only been to Inverewe once many years ago, but thought it was so beautiful and the variety of delicate plants (protected by the mildness of the gulf stream) was a revelation.
I rarely get around to the bench challenge, even though I take an unhealthy number of shots of them!
