April Squares: Lake Louise
Two squares for the price of one today. Here we are on top of the world at Lake Louise: firstly at the viewpoint looking down to the Fairmont Château, and secondly on the gondola up Mount Whitehorn.
Linked to Becky’s #SquareTops challenge.

Hi Anabel, I have been to Lake Louise many times although I have never taken the gondola. Maybe one day. Beautiful!

We enjoyed the gondola, though there were a lot of fires that year and the views were very hazy. We had a good hike and a lovely lunch on the restaurant’s patio looking out over the mountains.

Beautiful! This is one place on my must see list. I hope we get there one day.

I hope so – and I hope you avoid the crowds.

Our best bet for avoiding crowds would probably to go now, and that’s not happening! Oh well, it might be crowds or nothing. 🙂

Get there very early in the morning I would say!

Ahh, now this is close to home. Lake Louise is beautiful and I’ve been there several times. Although, as others have mentioned, it can be quite crowded at the height of the tourist season.

We’ve been twice now, ten years apart, and the difference was striking.

Love gondola rides.

So do I, they have a silent, eerie quality.

My parents took a train trip across Canada that ended at Lake Louise. They talked about their experience for many years after. Maybe one of these days, we can take the same trip.

It will be wonderful to be able to travel freely again.

Nice shots Anabel. My mother visited Lake Louise years and years ago and loved it. I suspect it mightn’t have been such a tourist destination then as she’s not particularly fond of crowds.

I suspect not! You couldn’t move for people at the main access point.

As you and others have said here, a major tourism re-think may be coming.
