WalkingSquares: Stockingfield Bridge again!

One more day at the bridge before I move on to something else for Becky’s WalkingSquares! Yesterday, I was back there with John and we took a different route home. Rather than go back onto the canal, we walked up behind the viewing platform and out one of the gates leading to the community of Ruchill which, for the first time, is connected for walkers and cyclists to Maryhill and Gilshochill (say GIL-shee-hil) on the other side of the canal. We then returned by road.
We also passed some more works of art in progress: an A-shaped plinth (I wonder what will be there?) and an old car emerging from a muddy bank. I love this place!
The bridge is a very striking structure. It will get lots of use in the future.

It will, enjoying it while it’s still relatively quiet because not many people know it’s open yet. Though official opening not till next month when it will be all lit up.

I hope we see photos of it then.

That bridge is super unique. The park seems pretty cool as well. Bernie

It will be wonderful when it’s all finished. The official opening is next month: I expect it will get a lot busier then.

Thanks Donna! It’s probably quite hard to take a bad photo of it.

Hi Anabel – I guess you should/could have asked him if he’d send you his video … drones have advantages (and obnoxious uses too) . Stockingfield Bridge is an extraordinary structure – no wonder it wonder it won the Engineers Award … and yes I look forward to what the new art will become – cheers Hilary

Always interesting to see something from a different perspective. 😊

Yes. Haven’t so far managed to capture the whole thing, it’s such a complex structure, though deceptively simple.

As Jude said! And that poor old car….a Rover?

Ooh, I don’t know what it is! Not up on old cars. It must have been rescued from somewhere.

Another great photo of the bridge and I like the old car too 🙂

The area round the car looks a bit messy just now, but I guess it is still a work in progress.

Seems like a place that keeps on giving.

It does. I can’t remember how many artworks there are going to be eventually, maybe about a dozen, so more will continue to be revealed.
