April Squares: Lake Louise

Two squares for the price of one today. Here we are on top of the world at Lake Louise: firstly at the viewpoint looking down to the Fairmont Château, and secondly on the gondola up Mount Whitehorn.

Linked to Becky’s #SquareTops challenge.

  1. Ahh, now this is close to home. Lake Louise is beautiful and I’ve been there several times. Although, as others have mentioned, it can be quite crowded at the height of the tourist season.

  2. Nice shots Anabel. My mother visited Lake Louise years and years ago and loved it. I suspect it mightn’t have been such a tourist destination then as she’s not particularly fond of crowds.

  3. Ah! Finally, a place where I’ve been. We hired a car and toured through parts of Canada in, I think, sometimes in the late 1970s or early 1980s and we stayed in Banff for two nights. It was fairly quiet then. Lake Louise was gorgeous and we actually saw a bear by the roadside (it was winter) but my husband was fretting all the time about the gas the car was using, not because of cost but he was scared we’d run out and we at the mercy of the bears.

  4. This is a beautiful spot and a very fancy hotel but, as my friend pointed out, if you would place that hotel in a city or a place that was not beautiful it has that look of a hospital or an asylum. When it was built, that look was THE way to construct. Anyhoo, the locale is stunning!

  6. Phew! I can look at these photos. Had such a funny turn yesterday! Not been to Lake Louise and not been to Banff either though I did have a job opportunity there!

  7. We never actually got to see Lake Louise when we stayed in Banff in 2018 – didn’t realise you had to park and walk a fair distance to get there! We ran out of time but did do a lovely walk round Emerald Lake – the waters lived up to its name it was stunningly beautiful 🙂 Lovely photo of the two of you 🙂
