April Squares: Whistlers Summit
This has to be one of my favourite pictures of us, even though you can’t see our faces. We’re on top of the world, on Whistlers Summit in Jasper National Park, looking out on Mount Edith Cavell. Thank you Parks Canada for the beautiful red chairs!
Linked to Becky’s #SquareTops challenge.
Full story in my 2017 post Jasper National Park.

Now there’s another lovely view I’d like to sit and contemplate.

Yes, sitting and contemplating is much more appropriate here!

I have been to Whistler but never to the top. This is a nice photo..perfect actually because you both just love being together and don’t have to say much but enjoy the view

It is a perfect shot. The hike to get to the summit is not great: very steep and loose stones. I find that far more scary than standing near an edge.

I do though!

Wow what a great photo. Whistler mountain is one the best places I’ve ever been, absolutely loved it there and the ride up to the top was amazing. Wonderful views everywhere.

Huge WOW, Anabel! Who took the photo? Parks Canada is big on the red chairs everywhere. All parks closed for now. Thank you for sharing.

Isn’t it wonderful! I remember the young woman who took this. She was on her own so we photographed her and he took some of us in return. This is by far the best.

That is indeed quite an amazing view. Park Canada has put these red chairs in all of their parks across the country. They are quite lovely. (Suzanne)

It’s a great idea, and they are very photogenic. We saw some more later the same day.

That is a lovely picture, Anabel! The chairs look comfy too! I just ordered some for our garden so we can at least sit outside (since we only moved in September, we haven’t really done anything to it yet) but just got cheapo folding ones since I’d rather wait until I can actually leave the house and shop around a bit before committing to anything expensive. They should be delivered just in time for this warm spell to end, naturally!

They were comfortable, but also popular so we didn’t take them up for too long! I’m sure you’re right about the weather. I’m dreading the rain coming back, I don’t know if I’ll have the willpower to keep up my daily walk then.

Love the chairs! And an unusual photo. I like the way you have themed this month’s challenge. You have certainly climbed a lot of mountains ☺️

Thanks Jude! This one actually had a tramway up it, though you had to hike the last mile. After I’m done with this Canadian trip (2017) it becomes a lot more mundane. We haven’t done so much since then.

Hi Anabel – how delightful … and yes beautiful red chairs. Interesting name they chose … I can see why though … as it was named in 1916 – the year she was killed. Beautiful day you had … cheers Hilary

It’s a beautiful mountain! We had climbed its lower slopes on our previous visit, but the road was closed on this occasion. The view followed us around though.

It’s very dramatic, isn’t it? It was a very hazy year with all the fires, but that day we struck it lucky with a clear view.
