Advent Day 3: Three Kings

On Christmas Eve 2019 we took a stroll to the nearby area of Scotstoun to view its Living Advent Calendar. Each evening in December, one more window had been illuminated. On the 24th, we got to see them all.
Number 3 features the Three Kings.

We Three Kings always makes me think of the Claymation Christmas special, which I used to watch every year as a kid. Their version of We Three Kings features the kings’ camels bopping around whilst wearing hats and singing a jazzy version of the chorus. It was my favourite segment, apart from “Here We Come a Waffling,” because waffles are totally better than wassail!

That sounds fun! My memory is singing We Three Kings of Orient Are as “orien tar”. I had no idea what it meant: the tar faintly puzzled me.

Favourite so far – especially the desert background. It anchors it in the story somewhat. Look forward to the rest of the calendar.

I was wondering about the three gift, but now it makes sense – third day of the advent. Very nice.

They are, thanks Hilary. I knew as soon as I saw them last December that I wanted to make a blog advent calendar with them.

The 3 Kings are probably my favourite part of every Nativity Scene (and I own several) and this is a lovely window!

“We three kings of orien tar” as I used to sing at infant school. I wondered where tar came in to it!

teehee, and I recall other misunderstandings.

Me too! Why don’t they explain these words to children? Probably they do now, but I just sang what I heard.
