Advent Day 24: Welcome to the party, pal!
On Christmas Eve 2019 we took a stroll to the nearby area of Scotstoun to view its Living Advent Calendar. Each evening in December, one more window had been illuminated. On the 24th, we got to see them all.
Number 24 – Nakatomi Corporation: Welcome to the party, pal! I know this is a reference to the Die Hard film in which, on Christmas Eve 1988, a group of terrorists led by Hans Gruber took the Nakatomi employees hostage during their Christmas party, but I admit to being disappointed. Something a little more festive, such as a nativity scene or Santa’s sleigh, would have pleased me a lot better. But this is what we got, so all that remains is to wish you the very best for the holiday season. See you in the New Year! May it be better for us all than 2020.
Sadly, no New Year’s parties in 2020.

Disappointing end to the lights, in my opinion ‘Die Hard’ really isn’t a Christmas film but loads of people love it. Hope you had a lovely Christmas and enjoy the New Year.

It’s been fun viewing all the windows as I haven’t been feeling in the festive mood so you jollied me along 🙂 . All the best Anabel and I look forward to hearing more from you in 2021.

That’s brilliant! Although, I do know what you mean, it’s not exactly festive.
I hope you had a lovely Christmas. Happy Boxing Day!

Yes, I would have liked a different ending after all the beautiful windows we’ve seen leading up to this one. But I guess the creators had fun doing their thing.

While not being a particular fan of Die Hard I,m also naturally inclined from birth to avoid most forms of herd mentality, not through badness, but just natures way of creating a few oddballs on the margins in case the main herd get wiped out by natural disaster or have to think differently. You even see it in sheep- a few animals happy to graze alone…. and that’s what’s happening here… “that’s my bag baby!” to quote another film as I recognize that same instinctive impulse to always do something different from the norm but only as a natural thought process. If I ever did a Christmas window it would probably be a strange one as well. Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas, Bob! Not averse to the odd balls – I just wish the 24th hadn’t been one of them!
