WalkingSquares: Elgin

A flashback to our recent break in Aberdeenshire. We visited Elgin in neighbouring Moray where my friend Elaine gave us an excellent walking tour of the town. We met these cheerful characters on the main street and I’m sure they’d love to join you all for Becky’s WalkingSquares.
Playing catch up. This is joyful and wonder what the history is.

The town drummer would wake people up in the 18th century before the invention of alarm clocks! Apparently this one held the post for sixty years until he died in 1822.

A town I’ve not been in properly just driven through to somewhere else.
Looked interesting though.

It is a nice town, lovely cathedral. I’ll do a post on it later probably.

Wonderful sculpture! You weren’t tempted to jump into the photo with them? I can never seem to help doing that! 😀

It’s a very lively grouping. No, I didn’t think of joining in, maybe I should have!

There seems to be a lot of these chirpy and cheerful statues springing up everywhere thesedays. They brighten things up I think.

Yes, and they are a good way of drawing attention to local history.

They look very happy! Walking tours of towns are great ways to see things you might not. I always look for a self-guided tour to places we haven’t been before.
