WalkingSquares: Possil Loch

Possil Loch

Who would guess that Glasgow life was teeming behind me, including traffic whizzing along the busy Balmore Road? You can walk all the way round Possil Loch, but you never see it because of all the reeds. Here, behind Lambhill Stables, is the best viewpoint – you can just about pick it out. We often walk out via the canal, and if the café at the Stables is open it makes a nice break before turning for home.

  1. how fabulous, and a great example of the myth that a camera never lies. You’d think this was a tranquil spot and that the view is the same 360 degrees round!!

  2. I remember cycling out to it years ago as it looked interesting on the OS map and it was a wildlife reserve and a loch I hadn’t visited…….. then being very disappointed when the water surface and any wildlife on it remained completely hidden by reeds from the circular path. Probably the only loch in Scotland that’s like that.
