WalkingSquares: Possil Loch
Who would guess that Glasgow life was teeming behind me, including traffic whizzing along the busy Balmore Road? You can walk all the way round Possil Loch, but you never see it because of all the reeds. Here, behind Lambhill Stables, is the best viewpoint – you can just about pick it out. We often walk out via the canal, and if the café at the Stables is open it makes a nice break before turning for home.

This looks just like a perfect day for a walk.

That is a beautiful rural view, especially if the city is close by.

It does, but looks are deceptive!

how fabulous, and a great example of the myth that a camera never lies. You’d think this was a tranquil spot and that the view is the same 360 degrees round!!

I definitely need to get a picture looking out from the Stables onto the road! It’s too wet, dark and cold at the moment to walk out there though.

ooh you’ve got the storms then. They have completely missed us today

Many a busy roadway has a stunning scene to behold if one will care to stop and look!

I remember cycling out to it years ago as it looked interesting on the OS map and it was a wildlife reserve and a loch I hadn’t visited…….. then being very disappointed when the water surface and any wildlife on it remained completely hidden by reeds from the circular path. Probably the only loch in Scotland that’s like that.

Possibly! I remember being disappointed too. We don’t usually go all round it now, just cut off at the gap opposite the Western Necropolis and walk home that way.

I love a walk like that where it is forested, quiet and peaceful … but with a cafe nearby for the way home! 😀

The café is a definite bonus! With its home baking …

It’s on the edge of some quite big housing estates, but you’d never believe it looking at this.

Well, strictly speaking, immediately behind me are the Stables and gardens. They can look quite rural if you look in from the road. I’ll make a point next time I’m out there of photographing the road, preferably square!

Ah, a fugitive loch! And a tranquil scene it appears, despite the nearby Glasgow busyness!

Tranquil at that point, though it can be busier – it’s very close to several housing estates.
