Squares Renew 12: on your bike!

John missed his bicycle while we were away in Ireland, but we found some appropriate street art for him! Every turn of the wheel is a revolution fits the theme of moving forward both literally and in terms of climate change by finding more green ways to travel.
We found a big yellow bike stand in the Titanic Quarter:

And the Duke of York pub in Commercial Court is keen on bikes, umbrellas and old signs. The sign I’ve had to cut to square reads in full Come in soberly, drink moderately, depart quietly and call again. Good advice!
Part of Becky’s SquaresRenew Challenge, using images from our April 2024 trip to Northern Ireland to illustrate one or more of the following:
- Move forward
- Reconstruct
- Renew
- Burgeoning

I’m sure John did miss his bike. At least he found his murals and cool bike racks to cheer him up!

He did miss it, but not too much – there was so much else to do.

Perfect fit to the theme. Definitely is a greener way to travel but you don’t see as much. Bernie

Hi Anabel – this one I did admire … very creative – as you’ve been cutting it down to square size! I hope you stopped off for a pint … and left quietly … cheers Hilary

Hehe, we didn’t go in – it was too early in the day to be hampered by the effects of drinking!

We saw bike racks like this one at Granville Island in Vancouver. Lots of fun coming up with these funky art works.

Loving the bike art. I’m sure my other half would love to hang his bikes inside our house on the wall. 😬

Ha ha, I have resisted that! Though I have lost what used to be a small conservatory and is now a bike shed.

One thing I did notice was the increased amount of bikes and bike lanes in Glasgow recently. You really have to be hyper alert now walking round the city centre district as they come at you from every direction. And they are mostly silent as they sneak up behind you. Bob. BSS.

Thanks! I hadn’t thought of the bikes to start with, then it struck me that they were appropriate.

I guess it’s one of those instances where, once you get interested in something, you see it everywhere.
