SquaresRenew 17: Glass of Thrones

One of Belfast’s burgeoning industries is film. Titanic Studios is one of the largest film studios in Europe, possibly best known for producing Game of Thrones. Dotted along the Maritime Mile are six Game of Thrones stained glass windows, Glass of Thrones, showing iconic moments from the saga. Clearly we missed one because I can only find photographs of five. Also, not having seen GofT, I can’t tell you what any of them represent. However, I do like the King on his throne in the post header image!
Part of Becky’s SquaresRenew Challenge, using images from our April 2024 trip to Northern Ireland to illustrate one or more of the following:
- Move forward
- Reconstruct
- Renew
- Burgeoning

I love the stained glass windows and especially the “king” on his throne! I never saw Game of Thrones either. The first episode had so much gratuitous violence I decided not to continue. I’m having a hard time making it through Shōgun for the same reason.

G of T could have went to Scotland until Ireland offered a better deal. Lovely windows.
We got Outlander instead. Bob. BSS.

fabulous glass and the Birthday boy looks so happy – great post and even better that there are so many non watchers out there!

It seems the Squarers are pretty much unanimous in their rejection of GofT!

I’m another one who hasn’t seen it, but then we don’t have Netflix either. I like the glass though and love the king. He looks proper proud of himself 😂

No, nor do we. The glass is lovely, and the king is much better than any old fantasy one!

I love that there are so many of us that are non watchers – for a while I had thought Robert and I were the only ones!

Never watched the series but these are wonderful!

So far, it seems, nobody has watched it, apart from Carol who started but didn’t finish. I don’t feel so out of the loop now.

I always thought almost everyone else had watched apart from us!

It seems to be taking over the world, but not my world either, Anabel. Always love stained glass though 🤗❤️

The glass is nice so we can appreciate it without having to know what it is about.

It is OK – I have never watched Game of Thrones either but the windows are lovely.

They are! And the first three comments are from non-GofT fans so we are not alone.

Are we two who have never seen GofT and really don’t care?

We are not alone, but sometimes it feels that way! My interest in popular culture has rapidly diminished over the last few years.

Harrumph! And that’s another thing – I used to hate that those Grumpy Old … programme’s participants were younger than me.

How clever and a lovely way to promote the film industry. We watched some of the series but never finished it.

It never appealed to me at all. But I like the glass!
