H is for Havana
In 1999, we made our only trip (so far) to South America, and stayed a few nights in Havana on the way. It’s a beautiful, if run down, city with very friendly people – for example, the guy with the lorry load of fruit who spotted us drinking tea on a balcony above, and the nice young driver of one of the classic 50s taxis we rode in. As you can see, it broke down – but we got to our destination in the end!

I am very envious you have been here

I didn’t mention that the water kept going off! I’d love to go back, but I think I’d investigate whether the infrastructure had improved first.

Yes, I wish we could have spent longer there. It was just a couple of nights either side of the main trip.

I love the photo of the guy throwing an orange it’s those kind of things that make a holiday.

It was a very lucky shot! And we made some lucky catches too.

Oh wow. Thanks for taking me back there! I have visited Havana and always wanted to go back. We also traveled around a bit. A very fascinating country..Something completely different.

We only went to Havana because it was a stop over on a larger tour, but I’d love to see more of Cuba.

Sounds like you had a good time there. As an American, I don’t think it’s that easy for me to visit Havana, alas. Anyway, I’m always up for some good armchair travel, and your photo essay here did not disappoint! 😀

I guess not. We have no restrictions from the UK. Glad you liked the photos anyway, enjoy it second-hand! Thanks for commenting.

Oh I want to go to Cuba so badly! Especially before it changes – run down and 50s taxis sound perfect 🙂

I would love to see havana. I love it that times stopped by late 50’s and that style of decay of the homes I love it. Alot of places don’t take life as seriously as we do and we could learn from that-smell the roses…and you are doign that!!! Great for you-I love it

Thank you! 50s doesn’t always work though, hence the broken down taxi. But it adds to life’s little adventures!

This brings back memories. We went to Cuba for our honeymoon ten years ago and loved every minute including our trip to Havana. We had a wonderful evening at club tropicana 🙂

Great photos! A cruise I went on stopped in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, but not in Cuba. Looks like an interesting place to visit.

Thank you! The infrastructure wasn’t very sound (the water kept going off) but that might have improved since we were there – or not, as the case may be!
