January Light: Nick Cave
Spotlight on Nick Cave – I have lost count of the number of his concerts I have attended, this being the last one, at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro in September 2017. It’s not great quality, taken on a phone in the dark, but I love it. It’s the best photo either of us has ever managed at a gig (so it’s probably John’s) and it really captures the moment. We both got to touch him as he crowd-surfed that evening, and I was almost trampled underfoot at the end when a few fans were allowed onto the stage. Happy days! He’s coming to Glasgow again in May, and guess who has tickets?
Linked to Becky’s January Squares challenge – words ending in light.

Great shot! You must be his number one fan.

I think I’m probably well behind the guys who practically knocked me over in the rush to get on stage!

I love the photo too! I don’t know that musician, but his pose just speaks volumes.

It’s a great shot! Which is why I’m sure it must be John’s. Hard to tell from the metadata as we both have iPhones.

I never heard of him and it shows how someone can be famous everywhere but in North America. Watch me be wrong because, I just don’t know music enough

His tours certainly take in North America. I suppose it depends what kind of music you like.

The verdict is now IN! I definitely live under a rock. Before your post, I had never heard of a ‘smartphone concert’….or of Nick Cave. I’m seriously hopeless.
Great concert shot!!

He he – I’m assuming the smart phone concert was just Bob’s pal playing a load of videos to him, but I could be wrong! Not having heard of Nick Cave though, that’s a serious matter …

I was at that gig too, anabel! one of my top five ever. First time i’d seen him, always admired from afar. Blown away. What a man. Thanks for the memories

It was amazing! Apart from the getting trampled underfoot bit.

Oh, dear- how out of touch am I? Not even sure what a smart phone concert is 😦 😦 I did, however, scoot off to listen to some Nick Cave and read his recent answers on the Red Hand Files. I have a feeling I’m missing out. 🙂

Great photo. Doesn’t look like he’s touring down this way in the near future so I’ll have to settle for a version of the smart-phone concert too.

I hope on your behalf that he tours the Southern Hemisphere soon!

That’s a weird coincidence as I’m just back from a bothy where Nick Cave was the star attraction of the night via a smart phone concert. My mate is also a big fan so I got an album by album musical tour….. Whether I wanted one or not, being a captive audience :o).

I hope you were converted – but I suspect not! Force-feeding rarely works.

Fabulous shot . .. did you wash your hand after touching him, or did you keep it unwashed?!!

You’ll be relieved to know I have washed my hands since!

What an awesome shot! I love Nick Cave, but have never seen him live. I’m a bit surprised, yet happy, that his music resonates with you and John as well!!

That’s interesting! Why are you surprised?

I didn’t see you and John as lovers of new wave and dark music. 🙂 I’m learning new things about your personalities with ever blog.

One of the things I love about him is that he is so varied. The raucous Grinderman stuff to the tender Boatman Calls.

I would love to see him.
But I can’t handle the crowds at concerts anymore. Last one was Elton John and it annoyed me so much that people wouldn’t stay seated. I know, getting old!

We actively choose the standing areas – I love to move to the music. (I won’t say dance, that would be flattering myself 😉).

If you like his writing, have a look at the Red Hand Files, if you don’t already know them, where he answers fans’ questions. His answers are always fascinating and sometimes intensely moving.

Not a fan of Nick Cave. I do go for one of your home-grown stars though, Paolo Nuttini, and saw him at the Isle of Wight Pop Festival a few years ago and was blown away.
