January Light: The Lighthouse

No, not a lighthouse, The Lighthouse – Scotland’s Centre for Design and Architecture. Formerly housing The Glasgow Herald, The Lighthouse was the first public commission completed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. I’ve included it because I love the lamplight on its atrium and the bluelight on its escalators.
Linked to Becky’s January Squares Challenge – words ending in light.

Love the blue..big surprise and those lanterns are cool…I’m assuming made out of paper?

Not been close enough to check closely, but they look paper.

Stunning! Haven’t commented on your many lovely pix recently as I’m recovering from the worst bout of bronchitis I’ve ever had. Coming out of it now and soon back to normal, I hope. Meanwhile, your lovely pix have kept me happy.

Sorry to hear that Mari! Hope you’re over it soon. Glad the pix have been a small distraction.

I am having trouble adding likes to your posts- ?? They won’t attach to your list. It happens with some other sites that I like and want to show appreciation. Any idea why?

That happens to me sometimes too. I don’t understand it either, sorry. I was going to say maybe you aren’t signed in but obviously you are if you can comment.

I think all the light were brilliant – lamps and escalators – yes Lighthouse, not Lighthouse :o)

I love blue light. I never quite know why. It just seems soothing, even when it is bold, as here.

If you’re going to have a centre for design and architecture, then it definitely needs to have some unique and interesting features. I particularly like the escalators in light. Nice touch 🙂

It has many other unique features not shown here, but this seems perfect for the theme.

The building has a big water tower from its printing days which looks a bi5 like a Lighthouse, hence the name I guess!
