Advent Day 13: Santa’s sleigh
On Christmas Eve 2019 we took a stroll to the nearby area of Scotstoun to view its Living Advent Calendar. Each evening in December, one more window had been illuminated. On the 24th, we got to see them all.
Number 13 β Santa’s sleigh.
I really like the moon in this one. It would have been really cool if someone had done a Befana one, and had her flying across the moon in lieu of Santa, but I guess not everyone wants to embrace the creepier aspects of Christmas as much as I do!

I had to look up Befana!

My mom has this set of Christmas mice ornaments that are dressed up to represent various Christmas traditions around the world, and the Italian one is Befana, which is why I know about her. They’re my absolute favourite ornaments and I’ll miss seeing them this year. Pretty sure they’re older than I am!

Another beauty. Are they doing this fun activity again this year?

They are. Iβve seen a few on Facebook, but the weather is so horribly wet, and looks to remain so until and beyond Christmas, that I donβt think weβll make the trek to see them in person this year.

Nope! Mind’s a blank. on that one as well.. “We got to see them all”… obviously I didn’t. :o)

We deliberately left it until Christmas Eve so that they would all be lit up. And we followed the map religiously!

This is a peaceful and hopeful window as we all deserve a little Santa in our lives.

A lot of work went into this one. Incidentally, I see from my newspaper that a lot of towns down south are copying Scotland’s idea of these windows. Take it as a form of flattery!

I think the original Window Wanderland idea started in Bristol so we canβt take credit. Not sure where the idea of using them as an Advent calendar started though. Maybe thatβs Scotstoun!
