Advent Day 16: Nativity scene
On Christmas Eve 2019 we took a stroll to the nearby area of Scotstoun to view its Living Advent Calendar. Each evening in December, one more window had been illuminated. On the 24th, we got to see them all.
Number 16 – A nativity scene: joy to the world.

This is a lovely one too.

Seasonal.but how come Jesus is always depicted as white when he comes from the Middle East at a time when everyone worked outside in the desert sun. :o)

Very true! But as I said to another commenter, this really reminds me of childhood Christmases when this portrayal was ubiquitous.

Delightful even for this atheist. And I agree this would have been perfect for day 24, but I guess if your house number is 16 then you just go with what you like.

I think only this one and the 3 Kings went for the religious theme, which was surprising. It’s a beautiful window whatever your beliefs. Much better than window 24 …

Well only 7 days to see no 24. Will you show us the whole advent windows then?

This is really beautiful, I love it, though like you I think I would have done it for the 24th. Did people get to choose their own designs and numbers or were they allotted at random?

I don’t know how they were allocated. I imagine there must have been some element of choice because one or two of the house numbers matched the advent number. I was quite disappointed in number 24, as you’ll see – this would have been much better!

16 is a lovely photograph – a real Christmas story. Joseph looks as though he’s wearing a mask and so it brings it right up to date.

This definitely says childhood Christmases to me. I think it would have been even more lovely on the 24th. Joseph’s beard does look like a mask!
