I like poppies in nature. See you can get purple ones now for the millions of animals, horses, abandoned dogs, cats etc that died during both world wars and still ongoing today.

Yes, I’ve heard of those though I’ve not seen them. The white peace poppies are slightly more common.

Yes, I think you are correct, Anabel. Luckily we haven’t had another WWar, fingers crossed. Though to be honest I think the climate might be a bigger problem?

Hi Anabel – today (Remembrance Day and then Sunday’s Remembrance Service) always takes me back to when I understood more of my family’s life during the War … I love the heart-shaped poppy outline. Poppies always resonate … with thoughts to you and John, and to all families who have lost during these dreadful wars – Hilary

Good to see Kelvinside Academy and read mention of Botanic Gardens. My part of Glasgow. I see there are plans to upscale Byres Road. I’ve lived in England for many years, but always a Weegie at heart.

Glad to bring back memories. There have been on/off plans for Byres Rd, but this time it seems the section from Partick Cross to University Avenue might just go ahead.

oh this is a lovely way to remember too. I only learnt a few days ago that Robert’s regimental society will be planting a poppy next November in his memory.

Two minds with but a single thought: Remembrance Day. I wonder how many others may join us today? That’s a lovely display: very much like the poppies on Flanders Fields, I should think.
