Geometric January: a finale for Becky

I had at least half a dozen themes in mind for today’s final post in Becky’s Geometric January Squares Challenge. I couldn’t decide – then it struck me: several photos have some connection to Becky herself, why not make that my theme? So here goes!
The little boy above making a nice, geometric wall of bricks was snapped on one of my visits to Becky when she lived in Winchester, while below are some shots from last year’s visit to her new home in Bradford-on-Avon.
I know that when Becky was in Edinburgh at Christmas she visited the Dovecot Tapestry Studio and failed to notice that there was an exhibition of geometric rugs by Ptolemy Mann in the viewing gallery upstairs. Here’s a bit of what she missed, including a suitably geometric look at the roof.
So I’ve covered street art, brickwork, roofs, windows, arches and textiles. Not bad for one post! Finally, all that remains is to thank Becky once again for a great challenge. Whatever will she come up with next?

Lovely photos Anabel. I like the one of the boy with the colourful bricks.

Sorry about that Hilary – I think WordPress is having one of its moments! It keeps making me sign in when I already am. Thanks for persevering.

I love that piece of street art at the beginning of your post. That is just the sort of thing our four year old grandson would enjoy doing.

These squares are fabulous, Anabel. I love the lighting in each of your photos, the objects themselves and how you came up with the theme with references to Becky.

It’s been a great theme, hasn’t it? I was doubtful at first but there have been so many interesting interpretations. Yours included, Anabel. Nice to be able to contribute something personal.

We were thanks – lots of trees down roundabout, but our house was unscathed.

What a clever idea for your final squares theme, and a fitting acknowledgement of Becky’s hosting endeavours. We’ve all had a lot of fun with this one and I’m also looking forward to seeing what she comes up with next 😀 Meanwhile I enjoyed spotting Bradford’s tithe barn amongst your shots as I have fond if distant memories of seeing it when I spent those few weeks there as a student. I really must go back one day!

Thanks Sarah. The tithe barn was where Becky gave us a hint and I guessed angles. I wasn’t so far wrong!

Oh, I LIKE this post. Particularly for the memories it contains. That’s a great shot of the windows in the Catholic church! Great (geometric) street art in the first shot too.

What an inspired last post. I would love to see those rugs, though I suspect I couldn’t afford to buy one.

Thanks Jude! As for the rugs, I don’t know how much they would cost because we didn’t have time to look closely (the gallery was just closing). However, there is a new exhibition starting in the same building next week which I want to see so I hope to revisit the rugs. I don’t expect one to be gracing my home any time soon though!

Thanks Eunice. We arrived to see another exhibition just as that gallery was closing so only had a couple of minutes, but it’s on till May so we should be able to see more of the rugs later.
