Simply Red: Transport Edition

Becky is running her Squares challenge this month with the theme Simply Red. Rather than contribute daily I shall do so in bursts! Today’s first effort is based on transport by road, rail and water – I couldn’t find anything by air. Locations are in captions.
Road
Rail
Water
Signs
A bonus section – two National Transport Trust plaques.
The cyclist
And as a final bonus, the transport is not red but the cyclist definitely is!

That’s nearly a whole month’s worth of squares in one post! At least one more to come though.

You did a great job with the red theme!

Thank you – it was fun collecting them all together.

Great squares and fantastic pops of red. It looks like a wonderful month!

Thank you! These are over several years but it was good fun finding them and putting them together.

This is a great red gallery. My favourite would be the tram at Beamish Museum. I’d like to go for a ride in that. And John looks very flash in his red riding gear.

I can’t remember if that was the one we rode on or not. We certainly tried one.

Well, what a comprehensive red transport burst! John doesn’t look like he wants to disappear into a crowd unnoticed!

I was going to say at least the cars won’t miss seeing him then remembered he was about to cycle round Kielder Water here. So no cars. But it’s generally true!

A good variety there and all in sunshine. Is that an electric bike or a normal one? Whatever it is I can’t believe John’s enthusiasm or distance travelled. Some are bike runs I did 20 years ago for fun but would never contemplate doing them now … unless a firing squad persuaded me. I must have the wrong batteries in me! Bob. BSS.

Thanks Bob – that is a normal bike. He started on an e-bike in lockdown but hardly ever uses it now. He does get a bit Duracell Bunny!

Wow. I guess a lot of things are red, when one goes through their photo archive. Although, I doubt I’d find many reds in my South America folders. It’s definitely not a popular car color here, but I have seen some old timer trucks in that color.

It used to be popular for cars here, now they are mostly grey which seems weird to me. However, there are still plenty of trucks and buses to choose from.

Nice collection on the theme of red…quite like the last pic of John in his red shirt and red helmet. (Suzanne)

Thank you! John is quite well coordinated in that picture.

Yes, I’m opting for ‘bursts’ of squares too 🙂 It’s a great idea to put together a transport collection like this, it seems to be a quite commonly used colour. I recognised the Beamish tram immediately!

I thought you might! I have my next collection ready to go and you will spot Beamish again I’m sure.

Great selection. You need to look out for a Virgin plane or Qantas.
LikeLike
He he, perhaps I will book a flight and charge it back to Becky 😉! Actually, I must have some Virgin balloon pictures deep in the archives, which I hadn’t thought of till now, because we did a flight once for John’s birthday, but I was just relying on what was easily to hand still on my phone’s camera roll.

Or just visit Glasgow Airport. Do they have a viewing area like they used to have at Heathrow many years ago.

They used to, but there have been so many extensions over the years I’m not sure if there’s anywhere you can see the planes now other than airside. I don’t know, Becky wants me to find a red sink, you want me to find a red plane. No wonder I don’t do these challenges daily! 🙂

Some great examples of red here, I particularly like the plaques and the water ones especially Wee Spark and Seahorse. Was John’s outfit specially for the photo or was it coincidental?
LikeLike
Wee Spark belongs to Scottish Canals so we see her quite a lot. The picture of John is actually a couple of years old – it’s part of his standard cycling kit. When I was scrolling through my phone I realised it would be perfect.
