Finniston Crane

  1. Steam locomotives! I love trains. I never thought about where they were built, much less how they were loaded for transport. You send me to Google and Wikipedia on a regular basis. The River Clyde, eighth longest in the UK and second longest in Scotland. Having lived my life in the center of the U.S., the concept of easy access to the sea is almost magical to me.

    • A well-known local artist, the late George Wylie, once created a straw locomotive which hung from the crane for a while and was then set on fire in Springburn where the real locomotives used to be made. Very symbolic!
