TreeSquare: Scottish Borders

As we have recently returned from a week in the Scottish Borders, I thought I would include some of the trees we saw on our walks in Becky’s latest square challenge, TreeSquare. As you can see, we had beautiful weather apart from one afternoon when we got drenched. You can probably guess which picture was taken then!

Yeah, at home in the Czech Republic, we have loads of trees: birch trees, horse chestnut trees, rose bushes, walnut trees, apple trees, pear trees, plum trees, cherry trees, peach trees, hazel bushes, pine trees, … …

I remember from the Tree of the Year competition that many European countries were much keener on their trees than we are.

Like the one growing over the road. Country paths are at their best right now. Vegetation at its tallest and most exuberant. A head high green jungle.

Yes, I loved the way that looked like an arch, though it actually wasn’t.

I like the sunny pathway, it pulls you forward. Love the archway! There’s a tree I’ve seen in a Sydney suburb that actually seems to have a huge hole through the branches, where the tree has been trimmed for electricity wires and has grown up and around them. I’d love to get a shot for Becky’s challenge, but it’s quite a ways from me — and we’re in lockdown, so I couldn’t go even if I wanted to make the trek. Too bad.

Yes, too bad! That sounds like an interesting tree.

A great collection of trees. I think the first might be my favourite because everything looks so fresh and green and bright. You can’t beat Scotland when the weather is lovely.

oh these are so lovely – and how wonderful only one wet day. Looks like you had a wonderful time. Is J still out cycling, or has he made his return? And how’s Mum?

Hi Anabel – delightful … I love trees that stand sentinel to time, place and space … gorgeous scenery … lots of heavy showers and rain this year. Thanks for these – Hilary

Thanks, Hilary – we’ve actually had very good weather this year. Some rain, obviously, or it wouldn’t be so green!

I like the first one, it looks huge 🙂

It was big, but probably the three on its left, which were some distance away, give a misleading impression of its size making it look like a monster!
