Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, all the way from 1908!

On December 20th, 1907, the New Year card above was posted in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to the same Mrs Marrow of 12 Prospect Place, Woolwich, who received a Christmas card from Ethel in my last post. It reads:

Dear Ma

I hope you have got over Xmas alright. Very nice card you sent me only it should have been your photo instead of the girl. I am expecting a letter from you. Love to all, Will.

Will write Sun.

How sweet of him to want a picture of his Ma! The cards below, both unused, are also for 1908 and all come from Mum’s collection of old postcards which I feel might be a rich blogging seam for the future. And speaking of future, I wish you all the very best for 2022. May it be better for us all than 2021. See you next year!

  1. Given current events I think ‘Looking Forward to a better New Year’ might be more appropriate rather than ‘Happy’ as I’m hopeful it might be better than the one just gone. Got a long list of things I’ve had to put on hold for the last two so maybe third time lucky.
Traditional ‘Best wishes for 2022’ though.
