WalkingSquares: gasometer

Forth and Clyde Canal and Temple Gasometer

Taken just before 7pm on a March evening this year, this image shows the Forth and Clyde Canal and one of two defunct gasometers at Temple. Two other walkers are almost lost in the dusk ahead. Given the time and the direction of travel, I guessed we must have been on our way for dinner at our friends Jayne and Mark’s house, and my diary reveals that this is correct.

  1. I have a bit of love for these old structures, the capture of the fading light through this one is just lovely!

  2. Wow not many of those left. In fact I thought they had all gone (which is a shame as I think they would prove very useful at the moment with gas supply issues).
