Post boxes of Malta
While I sort through the hundreds of photos from our recent trip to Malta I’m sharing a few posts with snapshots of generic themes that I like to look out for. Because of Malta’s past as part of the British Empire its red post boxes looked very familiar. The first few shown below I also photographed with their backgrounds, while the last gallery shows some in isolation.

These themes have given a mere flavour of Malta – now on to the main event, our walks and visits.

I’m sure I spotted that one in Valletta! I’ve enjoyed your themed Malta posts and I’m now looking forward to seeing more of your adventures there 🙂

Quite possibly, it’s very prominent. We passed it a couple of times.

I understood stone! Yes, they do look splendid. You spotted ER – the one I see missing is EVII, though the pillar box at the end looks the right sort of era. It just has no insignia. I assume the blocky red one is post independence.

The Valletta one is quite striking- such a Mediterranean street, such a typically British sight!

Isn’t it! I just loved that one.

I do like a nice red post box, especially ones in unexpected places. The panels in that grey front door remind me of a very glum face, and I see the G R one was made in Scotland. Favourite is the last one though, I like the view down the street.

I see what you mean about the face, I hadn’t noticed that! The last one is my favourite too – I love how it just stands right in the middle at the top of the hill.

I know! I suppose these things are made to last a very long time so not worth changing.
