April Squares: Shenandoah
Like yesterday’s photograph, this one is from 2014’s trip to Virginia and West Virginia. Here I am on top of the world at a lookout along the Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park.

I’ve been there! Haven’t traveled very much in my life, but I went there in 2012.
I used to live in Fredericksburg VA, and it was not that far away. I think it was about an hour and a half or 2 hour drive from my house. So, I have a few photos from the Shenandoah mountains too. Beautiful place to visit!

Thanks for visiting! We visited Fredericksburg, or at least the battlefield, on our first visit to Virginia.

What a great view. Looks like a bit of a climb but well worth the incredible views.

I’ll let you into a secret – it wasn’t that far off the road!

Always the best way to get those epic photos isn’t it? Tough climbs aren’t as good as they are cracked up to be.
LikeLike
Indeed! The trouble with Shenandoah is that the road runs along the ridge, so all the hikes start by going down and you have to climb back up when you’re tired.

You daredevil 🙂 It is a lovely view, and you are colour coordinated with your surroundings!

I hadn’t thought about colour coordination, but I suppose I am. That was my go-to summer travel wardrobe, a collection of fairly neutral items that would all go together. Probably still in the back of the cupboard.

I meant your outfit was colour coordinated with the environment. Made the photo look great. Not sure it would’ve looked so good if you had been wearing red. Just an observation 🙂

You look really relaxed on top of all these highly dangerous looking places! Does John drug you? Or perhaps he is simply photoshopping you onto loads of scary backgrounds?

Ha ha, those are the best explanations yet! They are just artfully shot to make me look more daring than I am. Just a little, teeny bit more mind you …

To tell you the truth, Mari, I like having my picture taken like this because it makes me look brave! In fact, the positions are usually much less dangerous than they look.
