Advent Day 1: Elf on the Shelf

On Christmas Eve 2019 we took a stroll to the nearby area of Scotstoun to view its Living Advent Calendar. Each evening in December, one more window had been illuminated. On the 24th, we got to see them all.

Number 1 declares “I’m back” – can you spot the Elf on the Shelf bottom right, just waiting to get up to mischief?

  1. Some of these windows are amazing (I’m coming back to the beginning as I wondered if you’d written something about the idea). Are they created by the owners if these fabulous houses or are the designs made elsewhere and given to the householder? You may have explained this last year.

  2. Oh the Elf. I love seeing what the Elf gets up to in other places but I have to say I’m glad my youngest has outgrown the idea this year. It’s all fun and games on day one but by about day eight you wonder why you started!

  3. I did see the elf! And I have to admit I’m kind of glad that the “elf on the shelf” tradition wasn’t around when my kids were little. It sounds like fun, but also a lot of work. A friend of mine said if the elf had been around when her daughter was young, she would have had him have an accident on December 1, and be in a coma until December 24, when he would have awakened to see the Christmas tree……..
