M is for Macau

Macau, like Hong Kong, is a Special Administrative Region of China but with a much more Latin feel from its time as a Portuguese enclave. We went there on a day trip by ferry from Hong Kong in 2002 and noticed a huge difference between the two. If we went back now, we’d find the place much changed – already famous for its casinos when we were there, it has since acquired many more as owners from Las Vegas entered the market. I have no interest in gambling – I think, if I’m remembering correctly, we had dinner in a casino restaurant which was the nearest we got!

You are so lucky. My next vacation spot will be Vegas because it’s my husband’s favorite place to go…

Nice!! We were planning to go there when we recently visited Hong Kong .. but too little time. Next time for sure – it looks gorgeous:-)

I also didn’t have enough time to visit Macau when I was in Hong Kong, but I really want to. I’m interested in seeing the city with the portuguese influence.

I like how the streets are done with the designs-different! Very neat reddish building-the colours -just great again. so much on a bucket list

I did not have enough time to get over to Macau the last time I was in Hong Kong, but I need to go again…so there’s always next time!

  I’d be interested to see the changes the last 12 years have brought, but there are so many things to do in Hong Kong I’m not sure I’d spare a day again. Last went to HK about 6 years ago, so I feel due a return visit too!
